The Chameleon was developed by VW Electronics Research Lab in Palo Alto. Some of the desirable features (above and beyond the bus itself) are:
PV panels on the surfboards
LED lighting
Speech-activated controls
Switchable glass.

I found this house through the Chicago AIA design awards. The Alys Beach Courtyard house, designed by Farr Associates uses 71 percent less energy than is allowed by local code. Farr Associates incorporated thermal mass, shading geothermal heading and PV to achieve energy efficiency.
