I found this image on Designsponge this morning, they found it on Remodalista. The stairs are in a house in Kensington, UK and are designed by Hogarth Architects.
You can tell by the lack of handrails that they are not in California.

The Hudson House in St. Michaels MD, is another beautiful example of modern forms and massing assembled in a cluster like a traditional farmhouse “compound.”
The project was designed by Stephen Atkinson, a Palo Alto-based architect working across the country in a variety of styles to create “beautiful and meaningful contemporary architecture.”
