McPhail House - Dallas

This one was sent by Julie McPhail from Texas.

“I live in a modern farmhouse that was built nearly 10 years ago. My house was built as a spec house for what was to be a neighborhood composed of only “modern prairie houses.”While my house won several architecture awards, unfortunately the neighborhood was perhaps a bit before its time (also probably not marketed well), and didn’t take off.

My husband and I were pretty disappointed that the neighborhood didn’t turn out as planned, but are very happy with the house itself.

Before this house, we were living in a townhome in downtown Dallas, but now we are incredibly happy just outside Dallas in Ponder, TX.I thought I’d share a few pictures of our place. It was built by Max Levy (an architect in Dallas, TX) and won the Dallas chapter AIA award, the TSA award, and the Sunset magazine architecture award. It was also featured on HGTV’s, “What’s with that House.” We live on 5 acres with our 10 year old daugther, our Scottish Deerhounds and Pug, cats, horses, rabbits, donkey, and bird :)

Love the house! The barn details on the modern home are wonderful.
