Free Green has a new twist on readymade home plans. They give them away free. This house, 01-001, has a traditional feel with steep metal roof, ready for photovoltaic integration.
Free Green gives the plans away, but offers customization and (presumably) make money from supplier recommendations. HMM, maybe we should offer free Farmhouse Modern plans?

True, not really farmhouse or modern. And the point about the street-facing garage is especially valid.
It is probably a good topic for an opinion post. Part of the farmhouse design appeal is a longing for a lifestyle that is not all about efficiency. The garage is in the front of the house, connected directly to the kitchen where possible because we are nothing if not efficient these days. Straight from the car to the ‘fridge, to the tv, to bed…
