Farmhouse Modern

We are renovating a 1940 ranch house in northern California. After rejecting the “let’s turn it into a craftsman” wave that is sweeping the area, we decided to embrace the ranch-style. We felt that William Wurster’s Gregory Farmhouse in Santa Cruz was the right model.

This made the decision about what outdoor lights to use easy, or so we thought. There are many, many rustic, metal sconces that in a small picture look similar to these. Buy when you get close, or better yet when you hold them, they are not good enough.

We were very excited when these lights arrived from Bellacor. They are substantial, the detailing is perfect, and they look a little retro, but without drawing too much attention to themselves.
