I just talked with Colin MacPhail, Winery Manager at Larkmead (who couldn’t have been any nicer) and he told me a little bit about the new Larkmead buildings.

It seems that Howard Backen (of Backen Gillam Architects) was the architect. Howard is an old friend of the Baker’s who own Larkmead and, I am told, Howard designed a kitchen for them when he was less famous.

My wife and I saw this building by chance when we were bicycling from the Calistoga Ranch. We were very impressed with the design of the tasting building both inside and outside. I strongly suggest a visit if you are in the area.
